How A Generic Brand Video Captured An Award

It’s April and time for the Shorty Awards®! The Shortys are to social media as the Oscars are to Hollywood. In fact, many Hollywood stars have already earned their own Shortys with short-form videos on YouTube and Vimeo.

Now in its seventh year, the Shortys recognize producers of “real-time short form content across Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr, YouTube, Instagram, Vine, and the rest of the social Web.”

The 2015 winner for “Best in Business to Business” is a video that is clever, effective and promotional. Sam Elliott’s narration gives it an air of gravitas. It markets a product (stock footage) and it increases awareness of the producer’s brand. The video already has over 1.8 million views on YouTube alone.

It also makes the viewer think about keywords, images, and themes,  while experiencing the high quality stock footage the company has available.

“This Is A Generic Brand Video” is engaging, humorous and contains a lot of beautiful images. It deserves a Shorty. Our hats are off to its creator, Dissolve.
