Jason “Jay” Rodriguez, an award-winning reporter and editor, has joined Lesnik Himmelsbach Wilson Hearl Advertising & Public Relations (LHWH), located in Myrtle Beach, S.C., as a public relations coordinator.
Having most recently led tourism and entertainment site MyrtleBeachLife.com to a successful inaugural banner year, Rodriguez has been working in print and digital journalism for nearly 20 years across Illinois, Indiana, North Carolina and South Carolina.
Rodriguez’s experience spans hard news reporting, feature writing and editing. He has been recognized in three states for various accomplishments, including the top enterprise reporting award, spot news reporting, in-depth reporting and best integration of web and print journalism. He created and administered a social media plan to engage Facebook and Twitter followers for several brands throughout his career.
He began his career in Chicago, where he was born and raised. He interned for CNN, the Chicago Sun-Times, Crain’s Chicago Business and the State Journal-Register. His career brought him to Myrtle Beach and the Grand Strand in 2006, where he was hired by The Sun News to cover the rapidly growing Brunswick County in North Carolina. Upon leaving The Sun News, he worked with several brands to develop purposeful social media plans, co-owned a bar and grill, and eventually got back into journalism and back to Myrtle Beach.

As coordinator, Rodriguez will write press releases and blog posts, assist in media events and with media requests and work with clients in addition to joining LHWH’s social media team. He currently resides in Myrtle Beach.
